Rome, September 2026. From September 10 to 12, Rome will host the IV Fratelli Tutti Synodal Meeting: North-South Socio-Environmental Dialogue, as part of the process of dialogue and cooperation promoted in response to Pope Leo XIV’s call to build bridges of fraternity.

The initiative is convened by the Latin American and Caribbean Episcopal Council (CELAM), the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), and the Pontifical Commission for Latin America (PCAL), with the support of the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI). The High-Level Meeting will bring together regional presidents and vice presidents of workers’ trade union confederations, employers’ associations, international organizations, and organized communities from North America, Latin America, and the Caribbean, together with the authorities of CELAM, CEAMA, and USCCB, to promote fraternity through social dialogue and launch a NORTH-SOUTH SHARED RESPONSIBILITY AGENDA FOR MULTISECTORAL COOPERATION in response to the challenges posed by the current processes of social, economic, technological, and environmental transformation.

Representatives of trade union confederations (ITUC, TUCA, AFL-CIO, Canadian Labour Congress, MST, UTEP, JOCA, SEIU, CFL, UNITE-HERE); employers’ organizations (IOE, U.S. Chambers of Commerce, COPARMEX, UNIAPAC); international organizations (ILO, OAS, OEI, COP); regional cooperation and development banks (IDB, CAF); episcopal conferences (CELAM, USCCB, CEAMA); ecclesial and university networks (ODUCAL, RUC, LUC, REPAM, REMAM, REGCHAG, Church and Mining, CARITAS, CEE); global companies (Microsoft, PLS, Integra); organized communities (IAF, GAMALIEL, DART, Faith in Action, The Just Power Alliance, The Black Mountain); and foundations (Porticus, EMFF) will participate. Participants will be received by the Holy Father for a Private Audience on the morning of the 12th at the Apostolic Palace.

The meeting starts from a shared understanding: the transformations affecting our societies cannot be addressed in isolation. The IV Fratelli Tutti Synodal Meeting will seek to move beyond the diagnoses and consensus developed during meetings held in Bogotá and Washington between 2023 and 2025 toward identifying priorities and concrete forms of cooperation, bringing together financing, capacities, and knowledge in response to the main transformations affecting the American continent: 1) artificial intelligence and human dignity; 2) education and training for socio-environmental dialogue; 3) community organizing and care; 4) youth and addictions; 5) artificial intelligence and social friendship; 6) energy transition and the protection of territories as a common good.

The meeting therefore poses a central question: What can we do together in the face of the transformations that are redefining the conditions of human life?

The expected outcome is to move toward a shared roadmap for the coming years, providing continuity to the Fratelli Tutti process and strengthening alliances among institutions and organizations committed to building more just, fraternal, and sustainable societies.

The Rome meeting seeks to take a new step along this path. Its objective will be to translate the lessons learned and accumulated consensus into a cooperation agenda, identifying priorities, capacities, and opportunities for joint action, thereby contributing to a transition centered on life, human dignity, and care for our Common Home, while strengthening North-South dialogue.
