Churches of the Global South at the 2025 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30)

Within the framework of the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), the Latin American and Caribbean Episcopal Council (CELAM) promoted a series of initiatives aimed at organizing hope, based on the proposal Position, Organization, and Proposal for the Economic-Financial Culture and Ecological Education of the Latin American and Caribbean Catholic Church in the Face of the Climate Crisis, with the support of the **Pontifical Commission for Latin America (PCAL)*.

This initiative sought to articulate a prophetic response to the global environmental emergency, inspired by the principles of the Church’s current magisterium, and to foster dialogue among key decision-making actors, including scientists, business leaders, workers, community leaders, religious representatives, officials from international organizations, and regional development banks.
